The Honda CR-V is a proven performer in its segment, combining everything buyers want in a compact SUV with unbeatable reliability as a bonus. Today, we compare it to the Ford Escape, an SUV of similar size. This one is less popular, though. Statistically, for every Ford Escape sold in Quebec, two Honda CR-Vs are sold. That says a lot!
The Honda CR-V is offered in a total of six variants, which offers more choices than the Ford Escape.
A state-of-the-art transmission in the 2020 Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Escape's base engine, also a 1.5-litre four-cylinder, develops only 180 horsepower. The Honda CR-V is therefore one step ahead of it.
All variants of the Honda CR-V come with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for precise acceleration and better performance on all models. In the Escape, only hybrid models are offered with this superior technology.
More space and equipment inside the 2020 Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V provides more standard features for the driver and passengers. For example, heated front seats, Lane Departure Assist and HondaLink Assist Automatic Emergency Response System are standard across the CR-V range, as is Adaptive Cruise Control.
In terms of cargo space, the CR-V once again takes the lead, offering 2,146 litres of cargo space compared to the Escape's 1,851 litres when the second row of seats is lowered. When all the seats are occupied, there are 1,110 litres available behind the tailgate of the CR-V, compared to 948 litres for the Escape.
The Black Edition variant is also a plus with the CR-V. It comes with black accents, unique 19-inch Black Edition wheels and distinctive leather seats. A level of personalization not found in the Escape lineup.
The Honda CR-V is a more advanced, roomier and better equipped vehicle than the Ford Escape. You can shop for your vehicle online with us. Our advisers are ready either by telephone or by e-mail to answer all your questions.
