Honda unveiled a new model for the Japanese market last week and while we normally wouldn't talk about it given that it is a different market, but this particular model is important to our market.
It’s the new 2022 Honda Vezel which in Japan is the equivalent of our Honda HR-V. Knowing that Honda is currently working on the development of the next-gen Honda HR-V, it's highly likely that the model we saw unveiled last week is a taste of our upcoming 2022 Honda HR-V in North America.
The current Honda Vezel, after all, shares its styling with the current HR-V offered in North America. The new Vezel will get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor for better fuel consumption and all-wheel drive.
The new Vezel also promises a new 9-inch center screen and the versatile Magic Seat rear seats will also be back. The 2022 Honda HR-V has already been confirmed and Honda has already claimed that it is a new generation. So, we expect to see the new HR-V later this year and chances are, it will be based off of the Vezel.
